The research opus retraced the developments in the evolution of the symphony orchestra in the Philippines in a tedious process of making a comprehensive picture from the years of performances that have transpired. The music was gone but the stories remained. Gaps within theses stories were filled out as faithfully as possible with personal interview with the characters involved and commentaries from cultural chroniclers. The study concludes with a reaffirmation of the value and significance of the Filipino symphony orchestra as a repository of Philippine cultural history. The repository, however, is dynamic and the orchestra, as an institution, must transform itself with the demands of the times. The tradition must be continue to be nurtured less the growth shall be stifled and worse stagnate if not oblitertaed. The symphony orchestra reflects the various expressions of the Filipino psyche and imagination strong enough to be a force in transecending the lives of Filipinos.
