The growth of a labor movement seems to be influenced by several factors in the environment, social, economic, political and other influences. In Thailand, labor organizations have taken the form but not the substance of trade unionism as practices in western countries. The term "organized labor" in Thailand developed in a manner quite unlike the western concepts of what labor union ought to be. The main purpose of the study is to find out the development of the labor movements in Thailand and the Philippines, to analyze the present system of labor relations in these countries, and discuss the problems confronting their labor organizations. For the purpose of this study, a historical and descriptive analysis in social research has been employed. The history of the labor movement in Thailand has shown that it developed from the desire of the workers to have an organization of their own. The objectives, for which these labor unions were formed however, were not fulfilled. Labor unions have been more involved in politics than in the social economic well-being of the members unlike in the Western countries
