Knowledge, attitude and practices of rural health center physicians in the provinces of Batangas, Laguna and Quezon in the Implementation of directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS)
The Philippines is one on the 23 high burden countries of Tuberculosis. For decades, Tuberculosis remains one of the top ten causes of morbidity and mortality. WHO recommended DOTS, a cost effective strategy to control tuberculosis. This study aims to determine if Rural Health Center Physicians' knowledge, attitude and practices conform to the guidelines recommended by WHO and DOH in the implementation of Directly Observed Treatment Short-course. Survey questionnaire was distributed to seventy-nine Rural Health Center Physicians and inteview of selected respondents was conducted. Findings revealed that respondents have sufficient knowledge on Tuberculosis as a disease and components of DOTS. There were no significant differences on the perception of respondents on the attainability and sustainability of DOTS.
