This paper is not primarily concerned with adult education activities in the Philippines, because there is precious little record of such activities. The problem is tackled from a different angle by researching the adult education activities in other countries and see if those activities can be implemented in the Philippines. The paper identifies the motives of adult education, its functions, agencies, devices used, and the role of the teacher in adult education. In conclusion, the paper defines adult education as a challenge that has to be met with courage and vision, with wisdom and statesmanship, so that the Philippines can become stable and progressive.
