The study attempted to trace the growth and expansion of Centro Escolar de Señoritas from its establishment in 1907 until 1941. It used the challenge and response theory of Arnold Toynbee in explaining the establishment of Centro Escolar de Señoritas and its development under the specified period. The study provided additional pertinent historical information on the experiences and achievements of lay Filipino women educators. This study shall serve as an additional resource material to understand better the educational thrust for women in the country and the history of Centro Escolar de Señoritas. It is also a humble contribution to the institutional history of women schools particularly Centro Escolar University.
