The investment banker mainly acts as the middleman between the sources and users of funds. Formerly, surplus holdings of money normally find their way inside the vaults of a savings bank. The aim of this study is to develop an adequate appreciation of the contribution made by investment banks to the economic progress of the Philippines. This thesis is a historical and descriptive analysis study. The historical method was employed in tracing the history, growth and development of investment banking in the Philippines as well as in other parts of the world. The descriptive analysis procedure was availed of to present the current status of the operations of investment banks in the Philippines. The ultimate objective of development is to uplift the standard of living of the citizens.
