This study explores major concepts of the tourism industry: what makes tourism possible and how can tourism become an important factor in the wealth of the Philippines. Tourism becomes more and more highly competitive as an international industry among nations because it has been a proven source of foreign exchange which assists the government in securing the much-needed international balance of payments. While the tourist industry is a big income producing business with a big multiplier effect, this paper will highlight the role of tourism to the country's economy underscoring only the advantages, even if, the industry too has many unfavorable points. Thus, the negative factors will not be included to show their bad effects to tourism. The components of tourism supply are many but only five major categories will be considered and all will be discussed in relation to Martial Law era. The focus on the supply available will indirectly show the magnetic effect on potential guests without getting into any demand analysis much less a forecast and would go a long way in further improving the inflow of tourists.
