This study generally aims to assess the applicability or inapplicability of the emotional stroop task in the local setting by determining its effect on the attention of some physically and sexually abused Filipino children. The experimental method of research was used in this study. The problems raised were answered using the correlational technique and the two-way mixed design analysis of variance (ANOVA). It was generally concluded that the Emotional Stroop Task (EST) used in this study has the capacity to produce interference, and therefore, can be an effective instrument in discriminating a non-abused from an abused child insofar as response time is concerned.
