Abstract	This thesis presents a preliminary history of the Clarisas in the Philippines. It followed the patterns of events which affected a majority of the participants in the history of Manila. It is interesting to note that the Order of Saint Clare was not a primary entity as a religious order for it comes under the authority of the Franciscan Fathers but it still occupied a prominent place in our religious history. Through an interview with the former abbess Mother Rosa de San Antonio, it is learned that the nuns in the present-day Monasterio de Santa Clara are aware of their history but only in a limited extent.
